An embroidery heritage, carried forward by people.

India’s hand embroidery heritage lives through the artisans who practise it. At ThreadToCreate, their skill, experience and creative judgement shape every piece we make in Mumbai. Behind each finished design are people who understand how a thread behaves, how materials work together and how small details change the whole.

Our business began with an idea from one of our artisans. We believed in his suggestion and took it forward together. He still works with us today and leads our embroidery team. His contribution helped us begin, and his knowledge continues to guide our work.

Craftsmanship also depends on the conversations around the embroidery frame: an artisan suggesting a different stitch, adjusting a placement or finding a better way to bring an idea to life. We value these contributions because the people making the embroidery help shape its character.

This is how we carry our heritage forward: through skilled hands, shared knowledge and room for new ideas.

Zardozi

Rooted in India’s embroidery heritage, Zardozi uses metallic threads and fine coiled wire to create richly textured motifs, raised details and a distinctive lustre.

Crystal & Swarovski Embellishment

Hand-applied crystals, including Swarovski crystals, catch the light with every movement. Carefully considered placement creates anything from subtle highlights to richly embellished surfaces.

Couture Beadwork

Beads, pearls, sequins and crystals are applied by hand to create texture, depth and movement. Carefully arranged details bring each couture design to life, from delicate accents to richly embellished surfaces.

Wooden Embellishment

Wooden beads and decorative elements introduce warm tones and tactile detail. Combined with threadwork, they create distinctive contrasts between materials and textures.

Stone Embellishment

Decorative stones add colour, depth and definition. Our artisans arrange them into individual accents or intricate motifs, considering their shape, placement and relationship with the fabric.

French Knots

Small, raised knots add texture to the fabric’s surface. Worked individually or in clusters, they create delicate floral details, textured fillings and tactile patterns.

Cord Embroidery

Decorative cords are laid onto the fabric and secured with fine stitches. Their raised lines create flowing motifs, defined outlines and sculptural detail.

Thread Embroidery

Carefully chosen stitches build colour, shading and fine detail. Threadwork allows us to explore everything from delicate outlines to richly filled motifs.
